Todd Brown – Graphic Designer, 263-2537; toddbrown@wisc.edu

General – I was hatched
in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, where I grew up with my sister and parents
(and a great Cocker Spaniel). I fledged from the nest in 1988 to
pursue a degree in ornithology, spiders, insects and other creepy
crawlies (biology). After graduating from UW-Oshkosh with a B.S.
in Biology and minor in Chemistry, I left for graduate school at
Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. When I realized long
term research wasn't my calling, I returned to Wisconsin in pursuit
of a Fine Art degree (go figure). I graduated with a BFA (Graphic
Design emphasis) in 1998 and started working in Medical Illustration
in April of that year. The work here is very enjoyable, as it combines
both degrees. I enjoy the challenges of visual communication while
also getting a sneak peak at some great research before it is published.
Education – BS in
Biology and Chemistry Minor (UW-Oshkosh)
BFA, Graphic Design emphasis (UW-Stout) - Summa Cum Laude
One year of Graduate School at LSU
Special Interests –
Anything that gets me outside and close to all that is natural and
wild. Some specific interests include birdwatching, kayaking, canoeing,
biking, frisbee golf, bowling, and weight training.
Personal – Back when
I was 14, I remember sitting in a waiting room here at the hospital
while gazing over the marsh thinking that I would someday be teaching
ornithology in a warmer climate. 14 years later, I find myself 4
floors down from that waiting room with a BFA degree and a career
in Graphic Design. Guess it goes to show, "Never say Never."
