Poster Pricing and Guidelines –
Turnaround times
Please allow three full working days for printing
your poster. We can accommodate faster turnarounds, but 24-hour
deadlines incur additional costs. If possible, please call ahead
at 263-6027 so that we can plan for your poster in our schedule.
Pricing
We charge $7.90 per square foot. The square
footage is calculated based on our paper width appropriate for your
print's dimensions (12, 24, 36 or 44 inches), multiplied by the
other dimension of your print.
There is a file setup charge of 1/8 hour ($9.50)
per print. If trimming is needed, this will add another 1/8 hour
charge.
Guidelines
We support the following software in both Windows
and Mac: PowerPoint, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. (See
PowerPoint guidelines and file set-up.)
If your application file is not supported you may need to submit
a PDF file for output.
Microsoft Publisher users please note: We cannot
print posters from Publisher. A banner or poster created in Publisher
will print as multiple, tiled letter-size pages. Your best alternative
is to copy what you have created from Publisher into PowerPoint,
or create your poster initially in another program.
Submit computer files on flash (thumb) drive
or CD, via email, or see file
transfer instructions.
If you email your files, use the address, contact@media.med.wisc.edu and
phone 263-6028 to confirm receipt of your files. Include a "readme" file
with all pertinent information for the job: client name, date submitted,
date and time due, file name, software used, Windows or Mac, the
final print's dimensions, fonts used, and additional needs such
as trimming, mailing tube, foamcore mounting or laminating. (The
latter two services will be sent out-of-house and will require
additional time. Please call us to discuss.)
Provide document fonts, convert text to outlines
(in Illustrator), or embed them in your file (Macintosh). This prevents
font substitution that may result, causing subtle or obvious differences
in your document. Submitting a PDF file with the fonts embedded is
another method of insuring correct font appearance.
Provide all placed images. Graphics are usually
linked, not embedded, in your document if in its native format. We
may need to have access to these images; otherwise low-quality images
may result or no graphic at all.
